Vic Firth Dave Weckl SDW
Product Description
The Vic Firth Dave Weckl SDW is a signature stick developed with Dave Weckl for players who want fast response and a broad cymbal sound without losing control. Its medium taper gives a balanced feel between butt and tip, while the small barrel-shaped wood tip makes it especially well suited to nuanced cymbal work.
- Broad, open cymbal sound thanks to the barrel tip shape
- Fast response and great leverage for comping and fills
- Medium taper balances power and sensitivity
- Painted hickory shaft for durability and a secure grip
Construction
The stick is made from hickory with a painted surface, with a diameter of .560" (14.2mm) and a length of 16 1/4" (413mm). The taper is medium – a balance between the back-heavy feel of a long taper and the power and durability of a short one, giving an even balance between butt and tip that works well as an all-round choice.
Tip and sound
The tip is wood, barrel-shaped, with a small surface area. A small surface area produces a lighter sound with clearer definition, which suits players who want distinct cymbal attack to cut through the mix rather than a dark, rich tone.
Who It's For
A solid choice for jazz, fusion and other styles where precise cymbal work matters, and for players who want a stick with fast response and confident control in the hand.
