Caixa Pro Malacacheta 12x20cm

Product Description

The Contemporanea Caixa Pro is a 12″ x 20 cm samba drum built in aluminium for a classic, snappy samba sound. Unlike a regular snare drum, it has a fixed set of snare wires mounted directly against the head, giving a distinct, sustained buzz on every hit.

The construction resembles a snare drum at its core. The same type of head and tension rods. But because the snare wires are permanently fixed against the head, they can't be disengaged. That's exactly what gives the caixa its characteristic tight, cutting attack in a samba or batucada ensemble.

The aluminium shell and hardware keep the weight down, which is handy if you're carrying the drum through a long parade or performance. Six tension rods let you fine-tune the head to taste.

What's included

The caixa ships complete with a tuning key, so you can start playing and adjusting the tuning right away.

Who it's for

A great choice if you play samba, batucada or other Brazilian percussion and want an authentic caixa with the right character, rather than adapting a regular snare drum for the job.
