Product Description
The Contemporanea Caixa 12" x 17 cm is a samba drum built for carnival and batucada playing. Its quality aluminium body, tunable nylon head and snare wires give it a pervasive, dynamic snare-sound that cuts through a full batucada ensemble, and it's an excellent caixa for beginners getting started with the style.
The shell is made from quality aluminium and held together by tunable threaded steel rods and steel rings. The batter head is a robust, tunable nylon head, while the resonance head is sensitive enough to pick up the snare wires on the underside. The drum has 6 hooks holding the rods, and the snare wires are fitted in traditional caixa fashion, as used in Brazil.
The result is a pervasive, dynamic snare-sound. Exactly the cutting, present tone needed to be heard within a large batucada group. Combined with its robust, easy-to-tune build, it makes an excellent caixa for beginners.
