Meinl Percussion Artist Series Ramon "Mongo" Santamaria MSA11AWA 11" - American White Ash
Meinl Artist Series conga signed by Ramon "Mongo" Santamaria. 11" quinto in American White Ash with gold-plated hardware.
Product Description
The Meinl Artist Series MSA11AWA is a signature conga dedicated to Ramon "Mongo" Santamaria, one of the most respected conga players ever and a pioneer of modern Latin jazz. This 11" quinto conga features a 2-ply American White Ash shell and finish, paired with gold-plated hardware for a premium look.
"Mongo" Santamaria led his own band, Black Cuban Diamonds, and appeared on several classic recordings, including "Watermelon Man" from 1963. This conga carries his name and is built to honor that legacy.
Construction and Hardware
The shell is built from 2-ply American White Ash, a wood that gives the conga its distinctive finish and stable resonance. The hoops are Meinl's SSR conga hoops in gold-plated finish, and the tuning bolts are 10 mm for secure, precise tuning.
Head and Included Accessories
The replacement head is True Skin Buffalo (TS-B-07), a buffalo hide head. Included in delivery is a Meinl Conga Saver for protection and storage, a tuning key, and Tune-Up Oil for head maintenance.
Who It's For
A conga player who wants a signature model with a strong historical connection to Latin jazz, and who appreciates details like gold-plated hardware and carefully chosen materials.
