The Evans EQ3 Resonant Black is a resonant (front) head for bass drum, designed to give a fuller, more controlled sound without needing a port hole. It's built from a black 10 mil film with an internal 10 mil muffling ring, which reduces overtones and delivers a tighter, more studio-ready bass drum tone right out of the box.

Sound Character

The internal muffling gives the bass drum a fuller, rounder tone with fewer overtones to deal with in the mix. That makes it a solid choice both live and in the studio, where a cleaner, more controlled bass drum sound is often preferred over an open, ringing one.

No Port Hole

The head is completely free of holes, giving a more naturally resonating head compared to ported versions. If you want to mic the bass drum, this is usually done via a mic stand placed loosely inside the drum or through the batter head instead.
