Meinl Percussion Artisan 8 3/4"x17,5" - Mosaic with mother-of-pearl inlay

Product Description

The Artisan Doumbek from Meinl Percussion combines craftsmanship and sound in an instrument that's as much a visual statement as a musical one. The cast aluminium shell gives weight and control, while the hand-applied mosaic finish with mother-of-pearl inlay makes every drum unique.

Design and Craftsmanship

The shell is precision-cast from aluminium, giving the doumbek solid weight and excellent control over the sound. The surface features an authentic mosaic finish with mother-of-pearl inlays, making it a standout piece both to look at and to play.

Sound and Playability

With a diameter of approximately 22.2 cm (8 3/4") and a height of 44.5 cm (17.5"), plus a weight of around 4.7 kg, this doumbek has just the right heft for clear "dum" fundamentals and crisp "tak/tek" rim articulation with strong projection. The high-quality synthetic head makes it equally suited to acoustic playing and recording, without demanding exotic maintenance. The well-balanced shape is tailored for Arabic-style percussion but works just as well for fusion, jam sessions and stage use.

Applications and Performance

This doumbek works well alongside a drum kit, as a solo percussion instrument, or within a smaller ensemble. The striking finish makes it a natural focal point on stage, and the solid build holds up to regular rehearsal and touring use.
