Rainmaker made from a branch of the cactus Eulychnia chiloensis, dried, cleaned and filled with fine gravel. It produces a bright, trickling sound that lingers as the instrument is turned, making it both a striking effect instrument and a calming tool for therapeutic use.
The sound is soft and enduring, resembling gentle rainfall as the gravel moves through the cactus's inner spines. Traditionally a ceremonial instrument from Chile, used to conjure rain, it works equally well in music therapy, relaxation sessions or as a soothing texture in music and meditation.
A good choice if you want a natural, acoustic effect instrument with no electronics – simple to use, just turn it slowly end over end.
