The NINO-ADJ3-XS is a smaller rope-tuned djembe drum with authentic African-style design, built specifically for children. The shell is carved from solid, plantation-grown mahogany and topped with a hand-picked goat skin, so the sound is genuine rather than toy-like. Part of the NINO® Earth Rhythm Series.

The drum is tuned by adjusting the rope lacing around the shell, just like a traditional djembe – a good way for kids to understand how an acoustic instrument actually works. The hand-picked goat skin head gives a warm, natural response without requiring much force to produce sound.

Who It's For

Recommended from age 3 and up, this is a good first percussion instrument – small enough to handle easily, but built as a real instrument rather than a toy. NINO® Percussion instruments are made exclusively for children and young players in early music education, from preschool through primary school; the main difference from equivalent adult instruments is size and colour, not function or sound quality.
