Product Description

An 8" splash cymbal from Paiste's Signature Dark Energy series, model Splash Mark I. A hand-crafted cymbal in the thin weight class with a dark, layered tone and sharp attack, built for drummers who want personal character and precise musical control.

• Forged from Paiste's proprietary Signature Bronze alloy
• Hand-crafted from start to finish by Swiss craftsmen
• Dark, warm and rich tone with sharp attack intensity
• Short bell decay and a washy sound with plenty of overtone wash on impact
• Soft to medium volume, with an integrated chick sound
• Suited for jazz, fusion, progressive rock, blues rock and funk

Sound Character

This splash is built for nuance rather than sheer volume. The tone is described as dark, layered, warm and crisp, with an emphasis on control, projection and balance rather than cut. The attack carries sharp intensity, while the bell decays quickly, leaving a short, distinct accent. On impact there is plenty of washy overtone content.

Construction

The cymbal is forged from Paiste's proprietary Signature Bronze alloy, developed specifically for cymbal making. The entire process, from casting to final hammering and lathing, is done by hand by experienced Swiss craftsmen. The weight class is thin, contributing to its fast, open response.

Who It's For

A great accent cymbal for drummers playing jazz, fusion, progressive rock, blues rock or funk who want a splash with real personality rather than a plain, thin ping. Especially suited for those already running a Signature Dark Energy setup who want to add a detailed accent voice.
