8" Evans Black Onyx - Black, Coated
Evans Onyx 8" tom head with two plies of 7.5 mil black film and clear coating. Surprisingly open tone despite the thickness, durable and full.
Product Description
The Evans Black Onyx 8" is a thick, durable tom head built from two plies of 7.5 mil black film with a clear coating on top. Despite its heavy-duty construction, the head delivers a surprisingly open tone, making it a great choice if you want a rugged head that doesn't sacrifice fullness of sound.
The double-ply black film construction makes Onyx one of the thicker heads in Evans' lineup. That shows in its durability. The head is built to withstand hard playing and hold up over time. The clear coating over the black film gives the head its distinctive surface while also contributing to the tone.
Despite the thickness, the tone is more open than you might expect from such a robust head. The result is a full, warm sound that suits players who want a tom head that lasts without compromising on tone.
