ProMark Classic FireGrain

Product Description

The FireGrain Classic 7A from Promark is a hickory drumstick that has been flame heat-treated to become significantly more durable, while keeping its original weight, balance and feel. The hardening process gives the wood a denser structure, producing a tighter sound with a crisper attack, while the stick still handles just like a regular hickory stick.

There's no coating or gimmick involved – it's natural hickory hardened by flame all the way through, making the stick more resistant to wear and cracking over time. You get the same rebound and feel you're used to, with added toughness that shows after many sessions.

Manufacturing and Quality

Promark owns its own sawmill, giving full control over the entire process from raw timber to finished stick. The best pieces of hickory, based on the wood's properties, are sorted out already at the sawmill and sent on for further processing at the factory – resulting in high, consistent quality between sticks.

Pairs are also pitch-matched and weight-matched: the pitch tolerance between the two sticks in a pair is a maximum of 6Hz, roughly a quarter tone, which matters for even-sounding rolls between hands. The weight tolerance between the sticks in a pair is a maximum of 1.5g.

Promark also runs an environmental initiative called Play. Plant. Preserve. – for every tree felled, five new trees are planted.

The Series

The FireGrain line includes several models: Forward and Rebound in 5A and 5B, plus Classic in 7A, 5A, 5B and 2B.
