The Promark 5A Rebound FireGrain (R5AFG) is a hickory drumstick heat-treated using Promark's FireGrain process for increased durability. The hardening produces a more solid sound with clearer attack, while the sticks keep their original weight and balance – so the feel stays the same without unwanted vibration.

Construction and feel

The stick measures .565" in diameter and 16" in length. The long, tapering neck (3") gives a lighter feel in the hand and good rebound, suited to players who want quick response without losing control. The wood acorn tip gives a clear, articulate attack that stands out especially on snare-heavy passages.

Pitch and weight matching

Promark pitch-matches each pair within 6 Hz, roughly a 0.25 semitone difference – important for even-sounding rolls. Weight matching stays within 1.5 grams between the two sticks in a pair, which Promark states is a market-leading tolerance.

Manufacturing

Promark runs its own sawmill, allowing the best parts of the hickory to be sorted out already at the sawing stage, giving more consistent quality between sticks and batches. Manufacturing takes place in the USA. For every tree cut, Promark plants five new ones.
