Pro-Mark 5A drumsticks are made from Japanese shira kashi oak, a dense wood that makes them roughly 10% heavier than an equivalent hickory stick. That density gives a powerful stick that stands up to rim shots without splintering. The 5A has long been the best-selling model thanks to its well-balanced weight and length, making it suitable for pretty much any style of music.
The dense oak gives the stick a solid, confident feel in the hand and holds up well to heavy rimwork. The oval wood tip gives a round, full sound against cymbals and heads, and the classic 5A shape works just as well in the rehearsal room as on stage.
