Vic Firth 5A Nova
Product Description
The Vic Firth 5A Nova is a budget-friendly hickory drumstick, made for players who want a consistent feel without spending a lot on sticks. The wood is what Vic Firth calls second grade hickory – the same hickory used in their pricier lines, but with cosmetic blemishes that don't affect playability, which allows the sticks to be sold at a lower price.
Every pair is weight-sorted and tone-paired using Vic Firth's own technology, so the two sticks in a pair match each other in weight and tone. That gives a more even, predictable feel compared to unsorted sticks – handy when you just want to grab a pair and know it'll play right.
The tip is oval and made from hickory, giving a round, full attack on both cymbals and drumheads. The taper is a medium taper, striking a good balance between strength and sensitivity. The finish is lacquered.
A solid choice if you practice a lot and want a reliable pair of 5A sticks without paying for first-grade sorting – and a smart backup pair to keep in the stick bag.
