The Promark 5A Classic FireGrain (TX5AW-FG) is a hickory drumstick heat-treated with Promark's FireGrain™ process for greater durability, while keeping its original weight and balance. The treatment hardens the hickory for a more solid sound with clearer attack, while the feel stays the same as a standard 5A.

• Heat-treated, select hickory for increased durability and a solid sound
• Pitch-matched pairs – tolerance of max 6 Hz, roughly 0.25 of a tone
• Weight-matched pairs – tolerance of max 1.5 g between the two sticks
• Teardrop tip for a focused sound on hi-hats and cymbals
• Made using Promark's own sawmill, giving control over the entire process from timber to finished stick

Construction and Materials

FireGrain™ is Promark's proprietary heat-treatment method, hardening the hickory through flame rather than additives or gimmicks. This 5A Classic stick has a teardrop wood tip, measuring 16" (406 mm) in length and .551" (14.0 mm) in diameter. Because Promark runs its own sawmill, the best hickory is selected right at the source, giving consistent quality across the line.

Feel and Sound

Despite the hardened surface, the stick keeps its original weight and balance, so it feels just like a standard 5A – with no unwanted vibration. The more solid sound and clearer attack show up especially on harder hits, while pitch and weight matching (max 6 Hz and max 1.5 g between the sticks in a pair) keeps rolls even.

Who It's For

A good choice if you already like a classic 5A stick but want extra durability and a fuller, more defined attack, without giving up the familiar feel. This 5A Classic is part of the FireGrain™ range, which also includes the 7A, 5B and 2B in Classic form, plus 5A and 5B in Forward and Rebound versions. Promark also plants five new trees for every tree harvested, making the series an environmentally conscious choice too.
