The Meinl Byzance Vintage 22" Equilibrium Ride is a hand-hammered ride cymbal in B20 bronze, developed with Matt Garstka. It pairs a penetrating bell with clear stick definition and a vintage tone that works across styles, from jazz to progressive and aggressive music.

Sound and playability
The Equilibrium Ride is built for balance. The bell, bow and edge work together so the cymbal offers a complete range of expression. The bell is penetrating and clear, while the rest of the cymbal delivers fine stick definition, nice attack and overtones with a vintage character. It also works well as a crash without losing its ride qualities.
Construction and finish
The cymbal is hand-hammered from B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin) and has a sandblasted/traditional finish with hand-lathed sections. It is made at Meinl's Turkish factory and quality-controlled and finished at Meinl in Germany.
About the Byzance series
Byzance cymbals are made at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship. Each cymbal is cast from B20 bronze, heated, rolled and cooled according to a proven schedule before the bell is shaped and the cymbal hand-hammered. Series with a lathed surface are then hand-lathed before the cymbals are sent to Germany for quality control, sorting and finishing. Byzance is available in several variants. Foundry Reserve, Dual, Traditional, Vintage, Jazz, Extra Dry, Dark and Brilliant. Each with its own sound character and look.
