22" Classics Custom Dark Crash-Ride

Product Description

The Meinl Classics Custom Dark 22" Crash/Ride is a well-balanced cymbal with plenty of volume and controlled sustain, built to take a beating without losing its fullness. The dark heat treatment gives it both a distinctive look and a sound that competes with far more expensive cymbals.

The cymbal is cast from B10 alloy (90% copper, 10% tin) and made using computer-controlled Hi-Tech manufacturing for consistent quality throughout the series. The Dark series' special heat treatment formula brings out the alloy's broad sound spectrum while giving the cymbal its dark, characteristic look.

Sound Character

The tone is bright and clearly shimmering, spiced with a full, dark low end and a medium-high pitch. Sustain sits at medium with a distinct spark shower in the decay, and volume is medium but with a brilliant wash when you dig in. The extra hammering contributes to the full low end.

Feel and Use

The CC22DACR is built to withstand a playing style that naturally tends to chew through cymbals. The B10 alloy is soft enough to take a beating yet stable enough to deliver a full, shimmering sound time after time. As a crash/ride it works both for steady ride patterns and powerful crash accents.

Who It's For

A good choice if you play rock, metal, pop or fusion and want a cymbal that can handle a heavier attack without losing its character, at a price below many comparable cymbals.
