Manufacturing

Byzance cymbals are made at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship. Each cymbal is cast in B20 bronze, heated, rolled and cooled following a carefully proven schedule until the correct thickness is reached, before the bell is shaped and the cymbal is hand-hammered. The raw cymbals are then sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and finishing. In this case sandblasting, which gives the series its characteristic broken-in tone.
