Sound Character

The Byzance series is made using traditional craftsmanship at Meinl's Turkish factory. Each cymbal is cast from B20 bronze, then heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully tested schedule until the correct thickness is reached. The bell is shaped, and hand-hammering gives the cymbal its final form and tone. Cymbals with a lathed surface are then hand-lathed before being sent to Germany.

In Germany, the raw cymbals undergo quality control, sorting and finishing such as laser logo, brilliant finish and sandblasting. The combination of Turkish craftsmanship and German quality control is the key behind Byzance's warm sound and consistent standard.
