Tone and construction

Byzance Brilliant is based on the traditional Byzance series, but with a finishing process that limits the high end as the cymbal is buffed to its brilliant look, resulting in a darker, warmer sound than the standard Byzance. Heavier models penetrate with directness, while thinner ones shimmer with warmth. The combination of dark tonality and warm spread makes Byzance Brilliant a great choice for everything from funk and fusion to rock.

The cymbal is cast from B20 bronze alloy (80% copper, 20% tin) and hand hammered in Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship. The cast blank is heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully proven schedule until the correct thickness is reached, before the bell is shaped and hand hammering gives the cymbal its final form. After manufacturing, the cymbals are sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and finishing. Including the brilliant-buffed surface.

Playing feel

Sustain is medium to long, with medium to strong volume. The broad sound spectrum makes it useful across metal, rock, pop, fusion, funk, R&B and studio work.
