21" Meinl Byzance Ride
Hand-hammered B20 ride with a dark, earthy tone and short sustain. Great for jazz, fusion and rock.
Product Description
The Meinl Byzance 21" Dark Ride is a hand-hammered ride cymbal made from B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin) with a raw, unlathed top and bottom surface. It delivers a warm, dry sound with an earthy, dark tone, short sustain and relatively low volume. A clear ride sound without becoming too overtone-heavy.
Sound Character
The Byzance Dark series has a short, slightly "dirty" sound character that is significantly warmer than cymbals with a similar look. The clear, dark attack gives it a wide musical range. The Dark Ride offers a clear, dark sound without getting too clangy, making it equally at home with jazz drummers and metal players looking for a distinct ride sound.
Its broad sound spectrum suits several genres, including jazz, fusion, world music, pop, rock and studio work.
Craftsmanship
The cymbal is hand-hammered from B20 alloy and produced at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship methods. It is then sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control and finishing. A combination of Turkish craftsmanship and German quality control that lies behind Byzance's warm sound and consistent standard.
Who It's For
A great choice if you want a dark, earthy ride cymbal with short sustain and relatively low volume. Especially popular in jazz and fusion settings, but equally suited to rock and studio players who want a clear, non-clangy ride sound.
