The Evans EMAD Coated White is a single-ply bass drum head in a white, coated finish, built around a small integrated plastic ring where the included muffle rings sit. With two different rings supplied, you can shape the drum's tone to taste, from open and natural to tight and focused. This award-winning head solves many of the bass drum's most common tone issues without any external damping.
Two Muffle Rings, Three Tones
The narrow muffle ring keeps the drum's natural tone while placing focus on the low register, giving the bottom end more room without losing character. The wide muffle ring hollows out the lower midrange instead, adding further focus on the bottom end for a tighter, more controlled attack. Play with no ring at all and you get the classic "felt strip sound" – an open, resonant tone familiar from many older recordings.
