Product Description
The Evans EMAD2 is a two-ply, 20" bass drum head built around a small built-in plastic ring where you fit one of the two included muffle rings. That makes it a genuine all-rounder – you decide how much low-end focus and control you want, without ever swapping heads.
The head has won recognition for how well it tames unwanted overtones and frequencies while still keeping a natural tone, rather than just muffling everything flat.
Two Muffle Rings, Two Characters
The narrow muffle ring keeps the drum's natural tone while adding focus to the low end. For more control, use the wide muffle ring instead – it hollows out the lower midrange further and pushes even more focus onto the bottom frequencies.
Run it with no ring at all and you get the classic, open "felt strip" sound many recordings rely on.
