20" Meinl Byzance Medium Ride Cymbal

Product Description

The 20" Byzance Medium Ride from Meinl's Extra Dry series is hand-hammered in B20 alloy. It gives a warm, dry sound character with an earthy dark tone and short sustain.

Sound

The sound is full and warm with good dynamics, earthy and short in sustain but with a clear attack. It has a round tone with favourable transients that don't bleed into the wrong microphones when recording.

Playing Feel

The cymbal can take accents played with the shoulder of the stick without ringing for long afterwards, while the attack still comes through clearly.

Construction

The cymbal is cast in B20 alloy, 80% copper and 20% tin, and then hand-hammered. The Extra Dry finish means an unlathed top side and a lathed underside.

Manufacturing

The cymbal is made in Turkey, while quality control and finishing take place in Germany. The Byzance series comes in 6 variants in total: Traditional, Vintage, Jazz, Extra Dry, Dark and Brilliant. It suits jazz, fusion, world music, pop and studio work.
