Construction and manufacturing

Byzance cymbals are made in Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship. Each cymbal is cast from B20 alloy (80% copper, 20% tin). The cast blank is heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully proven schedule until the correct thickness is reached. The cymbal's bell is then shaped before hand hammering forms the cymbal itself. Models with a lathed surface, like this one, are hand-lathed before being sent on to Germany.

In Germany, the raw cymbals are quality controlled, sorted and given various finishing treatments such as laser-etched logos, brilliant finish or sandblasting.
