Construction

The cymbal is hand-hammered in B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin) and features a Brilliant finish with hand-lathed top and bottom surfaces, giving it the polished look that also shapes its sound. The Byzance series is made at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship, where each casting is heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully tested schedule before the cymbal's bell is shaped and hand-hammering begins. The raw cymbals are then sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and finishing. For the Brilliant models, that includes the polished surface.
