18" Paiste PST 5 Crash-Ride

Product Description

The PST 5 Ride Crash from Paiste is a versatile 18" crash-ride cymbal made from CuSn8 Bronze, the same base alloy used in the brand's higher-end series but in a simpler, affordable execution. The sound is clear, open, and well-defined with an energetic attack, and the cymbal works across genres and volumes, including live use.

Sound and Feel

The PST 5 series is built on Paiste's CuSn8 bronze, also known as "2002 bronze", made according to the same recipe as the pricier series. The result is musical, all-around cymbals at a good price, combining Swiss cymbal expertise with German engineering. The PST 5 Ride Crash delivers a clear, defined tone with strong energy in the attack, a fairly defined stick sound, and a lively intensity that cuts through the mix. The bell is integrated into the cymbal, giving a unified bell sound without a separate, raised bell. The manufacturer's own sound samples for edge, body, bell, and pattern all reflect the same character: a distinct attack with clear tone throughout the cymbal.

Where It Fits

With its medium heavy weight, the cymbal handles everything from medium low to very loud volumes, making it flexible whether you're playing acoustically in the rehearsal room or on stage with amplified sound. It works well as a combined ride and crash cymbal, practical for drum kits where space or budget doesn't allow for a separate ride and crash.
