18" Meinl Pure Alloy Extra Hammered Crash - Traditional
Crash cymbal, Meinl Pure Alloy Extra Hammered, 18". Medium-thin with hammering all over, opens fast with warm, powerful attack.
Product Description
The Pure Alloy Extra Hammered Crash 18" is a crash cymbal from Meinl's German factory, built with a medium-thin weight and extensive hammering across the entire surface. It opens up easily with a warm, powerful attack and a quick decay, giving a clear yet full-bodied response. The series is also available in 16" and 20", so you can build a matched set.
Sound Character
The cymbal has a complex, full-bodied sound with musical overtones and a dark, warm character. The sound character is described as medium-dark, with medium to low volume and medium to short sustain. Pitch sits in the high-mid register.
Construction and Manufacturing
Pure Alloy is made at Meinl's German factory using computer-controlled hammering, a method intended to reflect the controlled, even Central European sound the series is known for. The material is Pure Alloy and the finish is Traditional. The same series includes ride cymbals with a woody attack surrounded by a nice wash, as well as 14–15" hi-hats with a tight sound and clear attack.
Who It's For
The Extra Hammered Crash works well for rock, pop, fusion, R&B, reggae, and studio work.
