Product Description
The EMAD2 from Evans is an award-winning two-ply bass drum head that puts damping control in your hands. A small plastic ring on the inside of the head lets you fit different damping rings and shape the tone to taste – from a focused low end to a fully open, resonant sound. A head with many faces rather than one fixed voice.
The head ships with two damping rings that each give a different result. The narrow damping ring keeps the drum's natural tone but focuses it on the low register, taking the edge off unwanted frequencies. The wide damping ring instead scoops out the lower midrange and pushes the focus even further into the bottom end.
If you prefer the classic, dampened sound normally achieved with loose felt strips inside the drum, you can also play the head with no damping ring fitted at all – thanks to its two-ply construction, the EMAD2 still delivers that familiar "felt strip" tone.
