18" Byzance Sand Medium Crash
Product Description
The Meinl Byzance Vintage Sand Medium Crash 18" is a hand-hammered crash cymbal in B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin) with a sandblasted surface that delivers a warm, round attack. It was developed together with Benny Greb and completes the earlier Sand Ride and Sand Hi-hat cymbals in the same series.
Sound Character
The sandblasting has a similar effect to long-term gentle playing: the cymbal softens slightly and loses unwanted overtones without losing snap in the top end. The result is a deep, full sound with controlled volume and a sustain that gives excellent dynamics. The broad sound spectrum works across many genres, including pop, rock, funk, drum & bass, fusion and jazz.
Construction
The cymbal is hand-hammered from B20 alloy and features a traditional finish with a hand-lathed top and bottom. It is manufactured in Meinl's Turkish factory, then quality-checked and finished at Meinl's German facility.
Who It's For
The B18SAMC fits any setup but pairs especially well with its sister cymbal, the B18SATC, and the rest of the Vintage Sand series.
