The Byzance Traditional line has a warm, full tone with plenty of dynamic range, letting you shape volume and character through your stroke. The B18MC has a round attack and controlled sustain, with a slightly harder attack than the Thin and Medium Thin crashes in the same series. Its broad sound spectrum makes it versatile across genres such as rock, pop, fusion and Latin.

Construction and Manufacturing

The cymbal is hand-hammered from B20 bronze, 80% copper and 20% tin, with a Traditional finish featuring hand-lathed top and bottom surfaces. Byzance cymbals are made at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship: the cast blank is heated, rolled and cooled through a carefully tested process until the correct thickness is reached, before the bell is shaped and the cymbal is hand-hammered. The raw cymbals are then sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and finishing. This combination of Turkish craftsmanship and German quality control is behind Byzance's warm sound and consistent standard.

Byzance is available in six variants: Traditional, Vintage, Jazz, Extra Dry, Dark and Brilliant, each with its own sound characteristics and look.
