Turkish craftsmanship meets German quality control

Byzance cymbals are made at Meinl's Turkish factory following traditional craft methods. Each cymbal is cast from B20 bronze alloy (80% copper, 20% tin). The cast blank is heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully proven schedule until the correct thickness is reached. The bell is then shaped before hand-hammering gives the cymbal its form, and the series with a lathed surface are hand-lathed before being sent on to Germany.

There, the raw cymbals go through quality control, sorting and various finishing processes such as laser-etched logos, brilliant finish or sandblasting. This combination of Turkish craftsmanship and German finishing is the key to Byzance's warm sound and consistently high standard.
