Manufacturing

The Byzance series is made at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship. Each cymbal is cast from B20 alloy, then heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully proven schedule until the correct thickness is reached. The bell is shaped before hand-hammering gives the cymbal its form, and models with a lathed surface are then hand-lathed before being sent on to Germany. The raw cymbals are quality-checked, sorted and finished at Meinl's German factory. This combination of Turkish craftsmanship and German quality control is the key to Byzance's characteristic warm sound.
