16" Zildjian S Dark - Raw

Product Description

A 16" crash cymbal from Zildjian's S Dark series, made from B12 bronze with a raw, unlathed finish. It opens up instantly and decays almost as fast, delivering a dark, trashy and complex sound that broadens the palette of any cymbal setup.

The S Dark Crash gives a fast, explosive attack with controlled decay. The sound is dark and trashy with a complex character, thanks to the B12 alloy (88% copper, 12% tin) and the raw surface. Hammering and finish are unique to each individual cymbal, so appearance and hammering pattern can vary slightly between examples of the same model. While the sound across the series remains consistent.

S Family Dark. Dark and mysterious

The S Dark series within Zildjian's S Family is darker, more complex, trashier and somewhat drier than the rest of the S Family. The crashes in the series are fast and explosive with a dark sound and controlled decay, the rides are clear and full with a penetrating bell, and the hi-hats are dark and distinct with a fast response and a clear foot chick.

About Zildjian

Zildjian was founded in 1623 by the alchemist Avedis in Constantinople, who accidentally discovered a copper, tin and silver alloy with remarkable sonic properties. The company stayed within the family and moved to Boston, USA, in 1908. Through collaboration with drummers such as Gene Krupa, Zildjian developed many of the cymbal types still used today. Ride, crash, hi-hat and splash.
