16" Paiste Formula 602 Modern Essentials Crash Cymbal

Product Description

16" crash cymbal from Paiste's Formula 602 Modern Essentials series, a modern reinterpretation of the classic 602 line developed together with Vinnie Colaiuta. Hand-crafted in CuSn20 alloy (602-Bronze) for a musical, deep and warm sound suited for studio and live use.

Formula 602 Modern Essentials is Paiste's modern take on the legendary 602 series, created in collaboration with drum legend Vinnie Colaiuta. The aim has been to preserve the classic 602 sound while making it more accessible for everyday musical work, without compromising the craftsmanship.

Sound and Feel

The sound is musical, deep, warm, dark and full, with a dynamic range spanning from low to loud volume. The attack is soft rather than hard-edged, making the cymbal easy to play dynamically. The bell is lively and clear, while the crash sound carries a washy character with plenty of underlying shimmer that builds over time. Played hi-hat-style, the cymbal produces a long chick sound according to the manufacturer's own sound samples.

Construction

The cymbal is hand-crafted from CuSn20 alloy, known as 602-Bronze, with a medium thickness that balances volume and sensitivity.

Who It's For

A versatile crash suited to most musical genres, in both studio and live settings. Its dynamic range makes it just as useful for quiet passages as for powerful accents.
