Sound Character

The B16SAH is a companion to the well-received Sand Ride and Sand Crash cymbals in the same series, sharing their deep, full-bodied sound. The voice is controlled rather than open and wild, making the hi-hat easy to play dynamically without overpowering the mix.

Craftsmanship

The Byzance series is made at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship. Each cymbal is cast from B20 bronze, then heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully proven process until the correct thickness is reached. The bell is shaped and the cymbal is hand-hammered to form. The raw cymbals are then sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and finishing, including the sand-blasting that gives this model its characteristic, softer sound.
