Construction and Manufacturing

The cymbal is cast from B20 bronze alloy. 80% copper and 20% tin. Then heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully tested schedule until the correct thickness is reached. The bell is shaped before hand-hammering gives the cymbal its final form and sound character. The top and bottom surfaces are then hand-lathed for the traditional finish. The entire process takes place in Meinl's Turkish factory, after which the raw cymbals are sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and finishing.
