Sound Character

Craftsmanship

Byzance cymbals are made at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship. Each cymbal is cast from B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin). The cast blank is heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully proven schedule until the correct thickness is reached, after which the bell is shaped and the cymbal is hand-hammered. Series with a lathed surface are then hand-lathed before being sent to Germany. The raw cymbals go through quality control, sorting and finishing at Meinl's German factory, including processes such as laser logo, brilliant finish and sandblasting.
