Construction and Sound

The cymbals are hand-hammered from B20 alloy. 80% copper and 20% tin. And feature a Brilliant finish with a hand-lathed top and bottom surface. The top cymbal is slightly heavier than the equivalent Medium Hi-hat, making the B15POH-B a bit louder with a clearer foot chick and attack. The tone is warm with medium sustain and volume, and the wide sound spectrum makes it useful across genres such as rock, pop, funk and fusion.

Craftsmanship

Byzance cymbals are made in Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship. Each cymbal is cast from B20 alloy (80% copper, 20% tin). The cast blank is heated, rolled and cooled according to a proven schedule until the correct thickness is reached. The bell is then shaped before hand-hammering gives the cymbal its final form, and the surface is hand-lathed. The cymbals are then sent to Meinl's German factory for quality control, sorting and finishing. Including laser logo, brilliant finish and sandblasting. The Byzance series is available in several variants: Foundry Reserve, Dual, Traditional, Vintage, Jazz, Extra Dry, Dark and Brilliant, each with its own unique sound and look.
