Construction

Byzance cymbals are produced at Meinl's Turkish factory using traditional craftsmanship. Each cymbal is cast from B20 alloy, then heated, rolled and cooled according to a carefully tested schedule until the correct thickness is reached. The bell is shaped before hand-hammering gives the cymbal its characteristic tone and form, and both the top and bottom surfaces are hand-turned. After production in Turkey, the cymbals are sent to Meinl's German facility for quality control, sorting and finishing. The combination of Turkish craftsmanship and German quality control is central to Byzance's warm, consistent sound.
