Construction and Sound

The shell is triple-vented, which according to Pearl helps temper the lively nature of the brass shell. The black powder-coat finish gives a restrained, understated look that contrasts with the brass's natural shine. MasterCast die-cast hoops boost projection, while the Evans Heavyweight Dry head delivers a yielding attack rather than a hard, bouncy one. Together, these elements give the drum a cutting, dry tone and versatility that responds well to quick, aggressive hits.

Details

The STL150 ClipLock strainer delivers increased sensitivity in the snare wires, and the black/brass STL Swivel Tube Lugs together with the striking yellow gaskets are visual touches meant to inspire performance. The expanded tuning range makes the drum flexible across styles and situations.
