The Evans Heavyweight Dry B14HWD is a thick, two-ply snare head in 14" built for players who want a full, punchy sound without excess overtones. The precision-drilled Dry Vents around the outer edge cut down on sustain and ringing, while the Level 360 collar makes tuning quick and consistent. A head that can take hard hitting yet still responds nicely to softer playing like ghost notes.

Sound and Feel

Heavyweight Dry is built for snare drums that need to cut through a mix without excessive ringing. The double 10 mil film layer adds thickness and durability, while the underside reinforcement (reverse dot) protects against wear at the center. The result is a full, fat sound with clear attack – but despite the thickness, the head keeps a surprisingly sensitive response, so subtler dynamics like ghost notes still come through.

Tuning with Level 360

Evans Level 360 means the head sits flat against the shell's bearing edge as soon as it's mounted. That makes the B14HWD noticeably easier to tune than many other heads, delivering full sound potential right away instead of needing to be "seated" first. It handles low tunings without losing body, and can be tuned high without going stiff.
