The Evans Onyx is a two-ply drum head made from black film with a transparent coating on top – one of the thickest heads in the Evans lineup. Despite its thickness, it keeps a surprisingly open tone, making it a solid pick if you want durability without sacrificing fullness of sound.
The construction uses two plies of 7.5 mil black film each, finished with a transparent coating that adds attack while giving the head a warm playing surface.
