The Ambassador Classic Fit in 14" coated is a drumhead built for older, vintage drum shells that are often not perfectly round or have thicker wraps than modern drums. It features a narrower collar and a steeper angle, which makes the inner diameter larger while the outer diameter stays unchanged, so you can keep using your existing hoops.
Many drum kits built before the 1960s have measurements and tolerances that differ from today's standards, which can make a regular Ambassador head hard to seat correctly. The Classic Fit version is designed to compensate for those differences without requiring a hoop change.
