The Aquarian Studio-X Coated 13" is a single-ply drum head with a thin internal damping ring that removes some of the overtones without killing the sound. It keeps the open, warm character of the drum while giving you more control, which makes it especially useful in the studio and for close miking.
Tone and Dampening
The head is built on a clear 10 mil Mylar film with a thin dampening ring mounted on the inside. The dampening is deliberately subtle, removing much of the ring and overtones that can be difficult to control when recording, while keeping the drum's open, warm tone intact.
