Product Description
The 13" Mel Lewis Signature Hi-Hats from Istanbul Agop are modeled directly on Mel Lewis's own personal cymbals, giving you a warm, washy sound with clear stick definition and an airy chick when closed with the pedal. A great choice if you want a hi-hat with real character and history behind it.
Mel Lewis was Istanbul Agop's first endorser. After his death in 1990, and with the blessing of his family, his chosen cymbals were flown back to the factory and used as models for what would become his Signature Series. Every detail of every individual cymbal was taken in with exacting care and replicated by hand by Istanbul Agop's cymbalsmiths, a tribute to Mel's legacy.
Sound and Feel
These hi-hats deliver a warm, washy sound with clear stick definition, so grooves and patterns cut through even when played open. The chick, the sound produced when closing the pair with the pedal, comes across as airy rather than hard and sharp.
