The Remo Vintage Ambassador Coated is a two-ply drum head that delivers a softer, calfskin-like feel without giving up durability. It builds on the head that became the first synthetic alternative to calfskin back in 1957 and that still sets the standard for how a drum head should feel and sound.
The head is built from two plies of polyester film, 7.5 mil and 3 mil, giving it the same durability as a standard Ambassador head but with a softer, warmer attack. The result is a classic, open tone with a feel that echoes old calfskin heads, minus the sensitivity to humidity and temperature.
At 13 inches, this head works well on both toms and snares depending on setup.
