The top cymbal is hand-hammered with a Brilliant finish and small holes along the edge, while the bottom cymbal has a Byzance Dark finish. The result is a warm, dry sound with an earthy, dark tone, short sustain and relatively low volume.

Construction

The cymbals are hand-hammered from B20 bronze, 80% copper and 20% tin, following the Byzance series' traditional craftsmanship methods. The cast blank is heated, rolled and cooled to the correct thickness before the bell is formed and hand-hammering begins. Manufacturing takes place at Meinl's Turkish factory, while quality control and finishing. Including the Brilliant finish on the top cymbal and the Dark finish on the bottom cymbal.
