The Aquarian Studio-X Clear With Power Dot is a 12" tom head that combines a transparent 10 mil head with a thin internal damping ring. The damping is subtle but enough to remove much of the overtone content while keeping the open sound and warmth of the drum. Perfect for studio settings and close miking.
Sound and Damping
The thin internal damping ring cuts away a good deal of the overtones without choking the tone. The result is a head that still sounds open and warm, but controlled enough to work well in a studio setting, where microphones easily pick up excess overtones.
