The Vintage Ambassador Coated is the head that introduced a synthetic alternative to calfskin back in 1957, changing the drumming world for good. Its two-ply polyester film construction gives the same durability as a standard Ambassador head, but with a softer, more calfskin-like feel at the stick.
The head is built from two layers of polyester film - one 7.5 mil and one 3 mil - working together to produce the warm, open, classic tone that made the Ambassador series a standard among drummers. The coated surface softens the attack even further, bringing the feel closer to the original calfskin heads while keeping the stability and durability of a modern synthetic head.
